Scripting & Programmable Blocks
Space Engineers is a game that gives you a bunch of powerful tools to work with, and with great power comes great responsibility. Scripting on the Sigma Draconis Servers is a privilege. We grant it to anyone that asks for it, but if we find someone impacting server performance with scripts and not responsive to requests to adjust what they are using, we will revoke it.
The rules regarding scripting may differ per server. This page serves as a general guideline for scripting. Make sure to check the rules pages for the server you're playing on, so you don't miss any additional rules.
Sometimes when we are investigating low Sim issues we may turn off programmable blocks.
Obtaining Scripting Privileges
In order to gain scripting privileges you must open a ticket in the #🎫sigma-support channel on our Discord. When you do, please mention the server you want the privileges for.
Terms of Service
Before you're granted scripting access, you will be requested to read and agree to our scripting Terms of Service, a copy of which is included below.
Scripting on the server is a privilege. We grant it to anyone that asks for it, but if we find someone impacting server performance with scripts and not responsive to requests to adjust what they are using, we will revoke it.
Additionally, we are running a server plugin that monitors the execution time of scripts. If they exceed a set amount (0.5ms per player at the moment) per execution cycle, then the plugin will turn off the programming block and/or damage.
We ask that if your programming blocks are 'overheating' that you step back and think about less impactful ways to get the result you are looking for. That may mean adjusting script settings, or looking for alternative scripts, or trying to find a non script method such as conveyor sorters.
Verifying access
You can verify if you have access to scripts by pressing F3 and looking in the rank column. Next to your name, there should be a single *:

Checking on the Limits
For clusters using PB-Limiter, do !pblimiter status in chat.
For SDX2, which is using a custom plugin, do !pbcost in chat.
